Verrières kitchen painting It has been repainted in20th century French School small scale square painting on hardboard signed (illegible) in the lower right hand corner. Thanks to an inscription on the back of the painting, we know that the scene is Verrires de Joux, a mountainous French commune in Burgundy, bordering Switzerland.
