The task force also considered that many people who smoke will attempt multiple different interventions before finding an approach that works best for them, and that patient preferences (e.g., desire to avoid medication), expressed through shared decision-making, are more likely to drive individual decisions about smoking cessation than knowing which interventions may be optimal compared with others
