The finish has a hint of dusty tannins in the endnote

rich and concentrated big-bodied flavors that possess obvious muscle and simply fantastic length on the overtly austere

but it s still a huge wine that has overflowing notions of smoked meats

(from old vines of an indeterminate age)

Batailley other_regions The straight Pira is quiteThe 1995 Batailley offers dusty black fruit on the nose, melted tar and graphite emerging with time. Personally, I would like more fruit for it comes across a little too austere. The palate is medium bodied with light blackberry, a little tough in the middle. Age has not softened this Batailley and it still feels unapologetically foursquare on the finish. Not bad, but it does not feel as if it is going anywhere interesting. Tasted at the chteau. Neal
